Happy New Year and Welcome to 2016!

New Year 2016 Thought Leadership

New Year 2016 Thought Leadership

Congratulations! You made it through another year. 2016 is a new year with new promise, opportunities, adventures, experiences, successes, learnings and gratitude.

Here is 2016’s thought leadership!

New Promise
Planning. We know very well the trite expressions “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” and “If you don’t know where you are going, you will never get there.” But are we taking action on what we know about human nature? Success is built on thought and action; you can’t have one without the other. So act on your plans!

“Problems are opportunities in disguise.” Time and again this adage is proven true. We see it throughout life and business that problems and opportunities go hand-in-hand. Great innovations, creativity and solutions arise from the need to solve some of our most critical and acute problems. Watch QVC or an episode of Shark Tank to see how this is played out every day with new inventions and ideas being born from life issues. As we begin 2016 make sure you have a positive, opportunity focus mindset.

Be realistic, life is full of ups and downs. Both in business and in life be ambitious, but be pragmatic, prepared, dynamic, adaptable, fluid and willing to evolve your plans, approach and actions.

Success does not come without failure. Thomas Edison said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” We learn more from our failures than our success and often our greatest successes are a result of overcoming failure. In the new year, we complete great business plans, make plans, form resolutions and set goals. But we rarely plan for the inevitable challenges and issues that are part of life, such as loss of a family member, loss of a job, loss of a client, new competitors, negative changes and volatility in the market place. A balanced approach requires us to objectively evaluate and plan not only for our goals and successes, but also to plan and be ready to hedge against our own unique personal, career and business challenges.

Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Both in life and in work, act today on future plans balanced by the knowledge learned in the past. Hindsight is 20/20, but innovation is visionary.

You’re probably already living your life in ways you want to some of the time. Let 2016 be a year of more gratitude and more of the same. Letting a sense of gratitude for what you have in your life guide your personal and professional plans. In 2016, daily remind yourself and focus on what really matters to you and achieve greater fulfillment with those things will be all the more satisfying. Think about what you’re grateful for and the things you’re already doing that you enjoy:

  • Spending time with family and friends?
  • Working on favorite projects?
  • A newly discovered passion or past time?

Then focus on improving those things in 2016!

Make plans and take actions in 2016, so you can enjoy your life and career, looking back on 2016 with satisfaction and fulfillment!
